I think the main advantage is the added confidence it can give you, but on the flip side, depending on your character, the added attention it can get you could be uncomfortable
on the whole I’d say it’s more of a help than it is a hindrance, especially in a society massively swayed by media and their obsession with and perception of beauty

Happy, smiling people are usually considered better looking that miserable t***s.

so that’ll be a double fail for me 🙁

As brakes says confidence is also very important, it factors in with being happy too.

I’m a model too, I appeared in German Holiday brochure for a hotel. Apparently bookings for the following year were all women and it was booked solid. True story well some of it.

indeed brakes.. lets not forget you can hide a beautiful face and body by simply choosing ill-fitted ugly clothes and awful make-up…. but opposite is much harder to achieve!

I don’t know the answer the OP’s question but I have observed the following: there are lots of attractive people in affluent areas.

I think if you reverse engineer this you’ll get an answer to the OP’s question.

    This is actually true.

Beauty isn’t about the arrangement of your features, it’s largely what you do with them. Those two pics – that top bloke could be a plank, and the bottom guy could easily have loads of charisma and be the life and soul – he’d get more.

The top bloke might get more of some kind of sexual encouter, but I’m not sure what.

I was almost in a TV advert for a bookshop in the US once. I was browsing books and I looked up to see a TV camera a few feet from my face. The director said ‘cut!’ and then gave me a condescending bit telling me I could be in the ad if I wanted* but please don’t look straight at the camera. That was the first I’d seen of it! I declined to be involved.

Probably more bookish than good looking.

It was quite some time ago when I had hair and was young but I’m not sad enough to keep a copy. I only just remembered when I seen you brochures. Payment was a couple of free drinks at the hotel bar.

I’m reasonably good looking, and I’ve had a reasonably easy life. Does that prove anything? 😀

I’d put money on you having a copy somewhere… 😉
I got paid quite well, a lot of standing around and it was p*ss-boring. The TV work pays much better but you have to wear more makeup. 🙁

Dunno, my life was pretty rubbish for a while, so not always true!! LOL

G/F is good looking ( I would say that though) and she gets unwanted attention from guys all the time, can be a pain

I have a couple of female friends who are very attractive – both have had far from easy lives.

    Really depends doesn’t it.

    Take two stereotypes

    – The beautiful woman with no brains – because of her looks, marries a bloke with lots of money and lives the ‘OK magazine’ life she loves and is happy as larry.

    – The beautiful woman who’s very intelligent but isn’t taken seriously and consequently doesn’t achieve the work goals/promotions she wants and is consequently frustrated as hell.

    I’m the latter 🙂

clubber… in your second example do you think its the attractiveness which means they’re/you’re not being taken seriously, or the fact you’re/they’re a woman?

i found the trick to being taken seriously, despite being super sexy-smart, it to be serious all the time… and always sound like you’re the only person in the room who has a clue whats going on (being super sexy-smart, chances are you will be the only person in the room who really knows the score anyway) 😀

as regular readers will know, i’m always serious, and damn sexy.

    I’m glad I’m a minger.

You are definitely NOT a minger.

To OPs question, the the answer is yes. My very attractive younger sister (married in case anyone’s asking) was always the centre of attention when we were out, it never bothered me as she always got the jerks queuing up to ask her out.
However, attractive people find it a lot harder to cope with getting older and ageing in my experience.

Does a hard life make you uglier?

Quite often I see some wretched chav girl, looking pale, underfed, and a bit strung out, and think if only she wasn’t so rough she’d be quite hot.

it’d make me look manly, makes up for the glittery lipgloss i’ve just found

    *is a pretty boy now*

(i wouldn’t rip the power cable out… maybe politely suggest watching something that doesn’t remind us both of work at that time of night)

(and i’m not wearing the lipgloss i found)

    (maybe)

A freind of mine was a very large kid, even larger teenager and fairly big into her late 20’s she lost all her weight and this stunner appeared, to us she’d always been beautiful anyway but all of sudden she got promoted at work got a handsome boyfreind and was miles happier…..

…..the background to this is the bloke had ALWAYS fancied her but she put up such an angry confident bolshy larger than life front he was petrified to ask her out in case she refused. Her boss didn’t promote her before because she hid away, never out herself forward and he had NO IDEA she wanted to further herself in the company.

It wsn’t that she suddenly started doing well as she became ‘beautiful’ it was her attitude to life that changed. I do agree with another poster that if you are like that naturally then perhaps its just you have the confidence to put yourself ‘out there’ so therefore seem to succeed.

I also have a friend who’s a man not much over 5’2″, overweight, bald, crappy job, shit car and face like a bulldog sucking a thistle BUT he thinks he’s Brad Pitt and you know what he’s always got amazing girlfreinds and has never been short of attention coz he believes in himself.

Yeah, we were farting about with laptops (romance? dead?) and couldn’t be arsed to switch over.
The woman had a sore neck. 2 kids. Bloke said he was gonna kick the nurse’s head in for looking at his wife without a top on… mutants.

My 17 year old daughter (NO, I WILL NOT POST PICS) has made it through to the final stages of a couple of modelling competitions, and so I feel I can say she’s a bonny lass without feel like I’m just being a proud dad.

Anyways, yesterday we sent her off to get herself a part-time job, with CV’s in hand, for the summer and into next school year too. My wife and I weren’t very optimistic given the current climate. Just about every place she went (hotels, restaurants, deli’s, cafes) were falling over themselves to give her a job, even though she has no work experience to speak of, and without even looking at her CV (7A*s,3A’s at GCSE last summer).

It’s bloody sickening! I never had it so easy!

Without wanting to shoot you down headfirst, a restaurant et al isn’t going to look at a CV for or really want experience for holiday work. All they want is young staff who can work hours others can’t for minimum wage.

People recruiting for those jobs know that attractive staff tend to attract customers

ahhh yes…. poor nurse! her description of the pain and where it was was so inconsistent i found myself talking to the TV, and the partner who wanted to hit the nurse because his dopey misses had forgotten she wasnt wearing a bra and showed her deflated chest to the nurse… made my blood pressure rise. exactly the reason why i dont like watching stuff mrsconsequence and I will end up discussing into the night when sleep is so precious lol.

bagpuss has hit the nail on the head for me… confidence is key, and as a bonus its also an incredibly attractive quality 🙂

headfirst… thats exactly the kinda example i was looking for for the opening post…. but didnt want to make one up!
