I've been using fenix and 4sevens torches for riding
The fenix I have is much more powerful than the 4sevens, but it is a 'cool' led and its pretty useless at colour rendering or being able to make out bumps and undulations in the trail
I was considering investing in something more powerful, but do any of the more expensive lights (hope, troutie, exposure etc) do warm coloured led's, or is this less important if the light is more powerful?
I'd have thought if you ask Troutie he might be able to help, but as a rule of thumb the higher the colour temperature it would seem the higher the efficiency, hence the brightest lights have a blueish tint. See cree data sheets for evidence of this.
I am sure troutie or luminous or any other of the small builders could - the problem is I think that the warm white leds are much less powerful like only 1/2 the lumens

You can buy warmer LEDs but they tend to have slighlty lower outputs so prob don't get taken up by manufacturers. Not sure this includes the latest type of LED but possibly one of the UK "builders" could make you one with some of these in it if you asked really nicely ??

I think normal household lighting it's in the 3500k range, and the brightest leds are 5000+. I don't think it's quite so bad as 1/2 lumens, but it is a significant drop. I understand that using a head light alone can lead to a reduced depth perception, so maybe that has an effect on your issue?

I do indeed use a warm tint led. in the dominator Xml U2. 2S.
not hadany complaints on the availabe lumens yet either but have had comments about how nice on the eyes they are
there is no large lumen drop but could look dimmer next to a similar light with cooler leds in

the choice of the tools maybe important for the trip ! lumens are nice !
Does anyone have problems with depth perception with the cooler led's with the more powerful lights?
I'm wondering if I'm having issues with it because my torches aren't powerful enough
Was just going to offer that my Dominator has quite a nice colour to it's light (certainly less blue than my HID), came as standard from Troutie. Not sure what his other options offer, but mine offers more than enough light, and as mentioned above, is easy on the eyes.
Four4th lights were showing a green-tinted LED on their stand at yesterday's Gorrick race. Think it may just be a prototype at the moment but might be worth giving them a shout.
Do you have lights on the bike as well as your helmet? As mentioned, two light sources will always help more than one. It is always going to be a slight issue compared to daylight no matter how bright or warm.
Do what we used to do with the mighty 3 watt glow-worm bulb lights.
Put them on the forkleg and that throws obstacles into relief. God knows how we ever managed to ride with those things.
I use the warm 4sevens on the bars and the more focused cool fenix on my helmet, but I'm not keen on the light it gives at all, it seems to wash the colour and definition out of everything
