Anyone built something like this (an MTB hardtail with carbon forks)? Instead of buying an MTB/cyclocross/or roadrat type bike for their commuter

    Brand-X Carbon Frame/Planet X/Kinesis MTB frame
    Rigid carbon MTB disc fork
    Single Ring Chainset
    Disc MTB Wheelset
    Disc Brakes

    Hundreds of folk, yes.

Works fine but not worth buying from scratch

I started using a mountain bike for the commute and loved it,bought a CX bike and disliked it and have now built this for commuting duties…

Back to loving my commute again! 🙂

I built this from stuff I had lying about. The frame was from my first bike after getting back into bikes after 10yrs off. Other things I had in my spares box, wheels were off the big bike after it got an upgrade. Most expensive bit was the On One forks which were £30. All in cost about £80 in new parts.

Random 69er thrown together with bits off classified for about £250 all in. Absolutely love it.
