Any dishwasher experts out there in stw
It's leaking from underneath and programmes wont start just making a loud whirring noise
It's a smeg slimline supposed to be a decent make but it's borked after 2 years
Never wanted the damned thing in the first place but the missus insisted
I said we already had a perfectly good dishwasher which did'nt go down well

Just googled and Smeg dishwasher warranty should be 5 years

Had something similar with mine. Are you using a full portion of dishwasher powder/full tablet? If so, it can cause excessive frothing which does something to the pump and stops it working. Ours was cleared out by the engineer and it's been fine since, and we now use half the dose of powder to stop it happening again.

Well I've just had hassle with our dishwasher (lots of pumping noises and not running any programs – no leak though) and it turned out to be a dirty/greasy sensor, gave it a clean with hot water and jif and it's now running great. A couple of suggestions:
Yours may be trying to pump out but the outlet is blocked hence the leak
Loose pipe fitting causing it to not empty properly or fill properly – that would stop it running any programs.
Are there any flashing lights on the front – if so this may well be an error code (ours was). Google is your friend. There's a great 'white goods' forum that I can't remember the name of (DIY somrthing I think) that got me sorted.
Two years isn't long though 😐

Get it on its side and open up the bottom ( 😯 ) to find out where the leak is coming from.

    Hi Dan74.

Have the same dishwasher, and had the same problem.

It is the anti-flood sensor kicking in so wont pump any more water in.

    It's quite easy to fix.

Email me if you need help,

I'm not a dishwasher expert but i did fix mine.

as pyekid says its likely to be the antiflood sensor.
have a similar problem with our machine (not smeg – seimens??) – the inlet solenoid leaks a little and triggers the anti flood sensor (float valve) which switches on the outlet pump. You can get it replaced I guess, but a temporary fix I found was to disconnect it all (mains and water) and then tip it to about 45 degrees – this seemed to drain about 10ml water out and resets the float switch.

Alternitively it could be the outlet for the pump is clogged up with crud – sopuld be easy enough to take the pump cver of under neath the filters and clean it out – sometimes bigger bits get past the filters – had this happen with it causing similar symptoms

Smeg crap appliances But probably blocked.
    Two things to try
1 undo the waste in the sink and the elbow of the waste pipe outside
as there maybe a food blockage at these points and clean out.
2 will be to take the machine out of the opening and undo the
main cover of the machine and left or right you will see a float chamber
give this a tap as sometimes the float gets stuck.

Then run a Dishwasher cleaner fluid through the machine.
