    i am wanting to upgrade my bike to disc brakes

    i am looking at the avid juicy 3 on merlin with mavic crossride wheels for £200 are these decent brakes and wheels are there better for the money i am running lx vbrakes with lx hubs at the moment would i see an increase in performance would i be better with different wheels with xt hubs for about £25 more i only cycle on cycle paths and very light cross country and commute to work

    The Mavic Crossride wheels are a reasonable package. They look good and run well, not too heavy. Sound more than enough for the type of riding you are looking at doing.

    No experience of the Juicy 3 brakes so can't really comment. However, /i do know Merlin do some good deals on brake/wheel packages so you can't go too far wrong.

    Crossrides are pretty good wheels but can often be picked up 2nd hand cheap. I'm not keen on Avid hydro brakes myself – I'd much rather have Shimano Deore's.

    £200 should easily get you something like Hope XC on X717's and Deore hydro's 2nd hand.
