Just put some New Hayes Stroker brakes on a bike.

The front hose is bang on, but the rear needs shortening by about 15/20cm.

Shortening the hose looks simple, just need a compression olive (costs about £2 online) and a stanley knife…

…but, will I then have to bleed the brakes? I've never shortened disc hoses before, but having done it on Magura HS33s in the past I know that if you are careful you can shorten the hose without introducing air into the system.

    Cheers, T

If you're reasonably careful it should be perfectly possible without having to bleed – I've never had to.

    Cool 😉

I would guess that you should keep the end you're shortening – the lever end in this case – as the high point? Or t'other way round?
