someone mentioned it to me last night but i thought she was having a laugh. i tried it earlier with my fuji 9500 with the same settings.. one shot with my thumb over the viewfinder and the other without a finger or eye up to it.both pics look identical.

does the 9500 have an internal shuttery type thing to prevent this? its not even a digital slr, wouldnt have thought they would have made it with one.

what camera do you own, does it let in light? if it does,do you find it "helping" you with exposure?

Your fuji has an electronic view finder, theres not light path between the exposure sensor and your eye so covering the view finder will have no effect.

With an SLR the light is bounced up to the eye via a mirror. Canon SLRs have a special do-dah on the strap that slots over the view finder to stop this problem (the pro versions have shutters that do the same thing).
