Got my shiney new iPad 2 yesterday and took out a digital subscription. Downloaded edition 63 (78mb) onto the ipad via Dropbox and tried to open it using GoodReader (which I believe is the mutts nuts for large PDFs) but all I get is the spinning wheel thing.
I tried using the older/slower/more stable PDF engine option and disabled pre-caching of the next pages but it didn’t help. I tried another [sailing] mag that was 28mb and that worked flawlesly.

Anybody else having the same problem?

Edit: interestingly the sailing mag is 149 pages compared to the 119 of edition 63 of ST yet it’s 50mb less – I presume this must be due to image content.

Have you tried it as a PDF in iBooks?

Good point……. will try that now. I had heard that iBooks wasn’t quite as good but if it opens I’ll be happy!

This book cannot be opened because the format is not recognised or is invalid” error in iBooks.
Strange as it opens fine on the PC. Will download it again.
