  • Difference between 180mm and 183mm rotors?

And for the love of God and think of the children’s faces PLEASE don’t say 3mm.

Looking to get a new front rotor. Have a Hope Pro II hub and Hope mono mini brake. Merlin have the floating saw rotor I want at a good price but it is 183mm. Will that fit using a 180mm Shimano brake mount or would I need Hope 183mm mount?

iirc, the mounts are the same, the 3mm difference is in the calliper, and hope are 183mm (but I could be wrong). email hope.

    I believe there’s a 1.5mm difference in radius…

couple of washers between caliper and mount should sort it. I did this with a 203mm rotor and a mono M4 caliper- it rubbed otherwise

180mm rotors were for IS mounted calipers, 183mm are for PM.

With 183mm rotors you have a lessened braking distance, by 3 mm.

I emailed Hope and they called me back within an hour or so (which is why I will always buy Hope products whenever I can).

    183mm rotor requires their ‘H’ 183mm bracket.
