I occasionally get distracted into paroxysms by boyish humour which MrsMC doesn’t always share. Noticed these real live names recently in my meanderings:

    L.Orefice Harvard biologist
Bumgardner, M., et al (2007). “Wood Use by Ohio’s Amish,” Forest Products Journal 57(12), 6-12.
    Will Soffe bike mechanic

Anyone else noticed this HR phenomenon?

Yes, it’s often referred to as ‘nominative determinism’. The New Scientist would regularly publish readers examples.

I know a Dr. Body, who is a consultant.
Also, there used to be a swimming teacher at my local baths called Mr. Pool.

Got an email at work from Reception last week telling us the car park was flooded.

    The Receptionist’s surname is Flood.

    Oh yeah.

A good friend of mine’s surname is Wood. His parents live on a road called Forest Houses, and his dad is… a lumberjack.
