    Hi all.

Looking a purchasing a DH rig over the next few months. £3000 is my budget.

So far I’ve looked at the Scott Gambler and the Commencal Supreme V3

Not sure if it would it be worth scouting the second hand market for a better deal?

    Any recommendations would be great!

    Cheers

If you have an idea what you want I’d recommend a season old second hand bike, plenty about for under 2 grand. Spend a few hundred on shock and fork services and some good pads and helmet.

Plenty of good DH bikes about, what sort of track are you riding on them? Some bikes suit certain tracks a little better. Look at Glorys, Sessions, GT Fury, Gambler, YT Tues Etc.

That said I’d go good condition second hand and upgrade. Oh thats convenient I happen to be selling a Devinci Wilson Carbon for under your budget.

If you want to go new, then current I don’t believe these can be beaten for value at the moment:

Even the top spec one is just under £3k, but the murdered out one is obvs fastest:

DH bikes are just in the process of changing over from 26in to 27.5in wheels.

Be aware that spunking your wedge on a new 26in bike might leave you either feeling left out later on or taking a bath on resale if you don’t get on with it.

Have a look on Pinkbike classifieds (and take some of the prices with a big pinch of salt).

Just had a quick look and this appears to be a bit of a bargain for example…

Apologies but might just take this moment to advertise my downhill bike for sale. 😉 It’s a polygon colossus DHX, it’s in the team colours with ‘sik mik’ written on and hutchinson etc. Best bike i have owned, hands down, handles everything and jumps well, just selling as i’m after something with less travel. Size medium, yours for 1400 but i am open to offers.

Saracen Myst Pro, fantastic bike, i’ve not long got the new 650b version which i’ve not had a chance to use it yet but I have used last years verion up at Fort William, it was an incredibly stable bike which just made you want to go faster and jump higher.
