The lake district has been massively affected by the recent storms, and may well be affected further in the coming weeks, but where there has been destruction, there may well be opportunity. Fixing the fells many upland footbridges and river crossings as well as path work will take months I am sure in some cases, and whilst we can just choose to pedal on past and power through more fords, we have an opportunity to show our responsible nature as a collective user group and get out to help put the fells back together.

Am I talking out of my arse or is this an acceptable rallying cry?!

It might well be a useful ‘stepping stone’ (awful pun) to influencing the shape and look of the fell paths, and our willingness to lend a hand may well help us to be considered as a viable user group to be considered alongside other more prominent groups in public consultation.
