My old XTR’s died this way with a loud pop, new calliper, or just bin them given the cost/faff ratio, the whole brake’s are only £15 more than a calliper on CRC.

Mine did the same after a couple of years, there are a few guides how to fix it, but frankly there’s little point IMO. I new calliper is £20ish from CRC, it takes minutes to fit it and bleed it up, after years of pissing about trying to bleed Avids and Forumla brakes it’s actually slightly easier than falling off a log.

It even comes with a set of pads!

How old are they? 2 year warranty on shimano stuff and they will replace them, I’ve just had some xt’s done for the same reason.

Just over 12 months old but I’ve put non shimano oil in them so warranty void, yes caliper £23 on crc so I’ll get one ordered, thanks for the input, hope this thread helps with future problems also.

How would shimano know it’s not their fluid if it’s all leaked out?
