  • Deore 10 speed over 9. Any reason not too?

For on/off road touring, commuting, shopping etc.

I can get 10 speed for the same as 9.
Can’t see why not, spares all seem pretty much the same price.

Assume 10 speed will be supported for a while the same as 9 speed has been?

    Nothing?
    10 speed it is then.

The future? That would be 11-speed then 😆

Seriously – it might be worth thinking about 11-speed to save you wanting to “upgrade” any time soono.

Only XT at the mo, innit?

It’s for my old Rockhopper – panniers and hills means a triple, so Deore’s just fine.

New wheels needed too, so budget’s tight.
Undecided between LX and XT hubs at the mo.
Probably end up with Sputniks on LX from Spa.

Cost of the rebuild will be more than the bloody thing cost new.
    😀

Looking forward to giving 1* a go on the proper MTB next time – bigger cassettes mean it could be a goer.

I recently converted my 1×9 mtb to 1×10 as the cassette I wanted isn’t made any more. Reckon that’s a harbringer of things to come – go 10.

11, still silly price, though it’s starting to fall. I think 10 will be available for a long time yet.
