Looking at a second hand frame with a dent on top tube. 2mm deep, 20mm long. Stay away or grab bargain? Its for a hack, no jumps down hill etc.

Got a dent in the top tube of my scandal after it leaped into a tree. Body filler and carbon wrap all is good a year later. People think its half carbon and dont know whats underneath.

If it’s a “soft” dent (ie with no sharp corners) you might well be able to roll quite a lot of it out if you can get (or make) some frame blocks the right size.
I’d ride it anyway.

If it’s not got a crease in it, just leave it alone – it’ll be fine…

I got some 3m carbon weave look stuff off ebay.

Bugger the carbon thing. It will have zero benefit structurally. Not much stress in most top tubes. Just drive the price right down

My five has a ding in the top tube from where I had my lad sat on a tt mounted kid seat. I’ve been riding it like that for about 2 years, makes no difference what so ever.

I had a dent removed from my car, no paint no filler just done magic from a specialist. Can’t the same approach be used for bikes? Anybody know what they use, is it done from the inside? Making bike dents a bit tricky?? Getting into most top tubes would be a right tricksy job.

Pulling them out isn’t really possible – I’ve done it from the inside when fitting S&S couplings.
