  • Decrease volume in shoes… custom insole?

    Hi chaps,

I’ve got some shimano XC60 shoes, which are brilliant – but the edges of the heel cup rub on the inside of my ankle bone. I need to lift my heels by about 2mm and they’d be fine. With thicker socks it’s a non-issue really.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do? Are there heel lifting inserts I can use? or any insoles that provide a higher footbed?

    Thanks

    Ricks

Bit late if you’ve ordered already, but if the footbed’s comfy enough but just needs to be higher:

Use the footbed as a template, cut the shape out of 30 pages of a magazine. flip half the shapes over to fit the other shoe, add or take away sheets to get the height you need, bind and seal by wrapping liberally (but neatly) with brown parcel tape.

    Works a treat.

Cheers Ned, I’ll keep that in mind 🙂

I was after some custom fit insoles anyway for my walking boots, so the Softecs kill two birds with one stone.
