  • Damaged front end from crash…

    Hi all,
Stuffed my front wheel into a stump on Monday. When I was prepping for today’s ride, I noticed some fore/aft play in the front end.
I nipped up the headset but it’s still there.
My guess is fork or headtube damage. Anybody have any advice on how to check and the possible damage to my wallet?
    Thanks Si

You have checked the wheel is secured correctly?

Forks are 2012 36s. They still have the qr levers done up on the 20mm axle

If you turn the wheel 90 deg, is it still there?

Well after a bit of investigation, there is movement between the stanchions and the lowers.
    Terminal or fixable?

Sounds like new bushings are required, best to send them to somewhere like TFT.

I would say you have killed it. The stanchions just slide up and down bushes in the lowers. So you must have broken one or both of those bits. I have some stanchions you could have for a few quid. I was going to ebay them as spares.

Ive also got a complete set of 36’s which I may sell if you decide yours are really dead.

    Thanks for the offer trimix.
Think I’m going to speak to a couple of people like mojo and TF tuned to see what the cost might be.
