has always been a muddy ride any time but mid summer

the forest seems to have suffered from worse than usual drainage after the winter

i was up there yesterday (not been for a while) and noted that lots of the drainage channels and small stream crossings have had logs thrown in them to "aid" crossing

the thrown in logs have dammed the streams / drainage channels, in some cases this has caused a 1' stream to become a 6' pool of mud and logs (the logs keep getting added as the dam causes the pool to get bigger)

this practice is not good for the forest or us mtbers so please refrain from it, loft your front wheel and let your rear plough hub deep into the mud, if your feeling ingenious then build a stealthy skinny over the crossing

(oh – and the Pole Hill jumps are undermining the tree roots!)
