Does a CX tyre exist to cope with thick sticky muddy conditions?
If so … please share the knowledge!

Had an absolute nitemare today. Fitted what I thought was a decent looking front mud tyre (WTB Crosswolf) only to see the mud stick to it like $hit to a blanket .. turned a 32mm tyre into a 2inch slick.
The mud would not shed and cornering was sketchy!

    Any recommendations much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Thing is they’re primarily designed for racing, at low speeds they don’t clear well.
Did you run them at 35psi’ish?

Cx tyres are awesome in mud. Schwalbe cx pro are a cheap starter, you’ll get a pair from a shop on eBay for 25 quid. Apparently Schwalbe Landcruiser are the tyre of choice for the 3 peaks. I quite often ride my cx bike at this time of year on my local trails, and it’s a revelation how well they cut through mud compared to mtb tyres.

For training / spare bike, I use the Michelin Mud 2’s which I think are great or you could try Challenge Limus clincher – I use the tub version and they are fantastic
