Am about to shorten my brake hoses and wondered what would be the best tool to cut them with?

Having visions of fountains of brake fluid spurting over the walls at the moment 🙂

I just used a stanley knife with a fresh, sharp blade. Worked fine when I shortened my new SLX’s.

Stanley Knife will do. Make sure the end is cut square.

Do you have the yellow clamping blocksblocks they came with? Helps to hold them when you insert the insert.

Yes I have the yellow doobries. Can acquire some pro cable cutters from work just curious if a Stanley knife would be OK

Stanley knife is perfect for the job and more than adequate.

I use my Park cable cutters as I am not that safe with a knife. Works fine.

Plastic hoses – stanley knife
Braided hoses – cable cutters

Just make sure it’s as straight a cut as possible. No dramas if it’s not, just makes it less likely to leak. Having said that, my old Shimano breaks were cut a bit wonky and never leaked.

Any sharp knife for standard hoses. Dremel for braided. Cable cutters for neither.

Oh well my shimano cable cutter cut goodridge braided hoses will prob kill me then. 🙄
