Just bought a on one inbred frame and it came with a stupidly long seat post. Can I hacksaw it down to size or will i end up weakening it. silly question for sure but don't fancy a trip to the hospital to have it removed only for the mtb riding doctor to explain the error of my ways 😀

    Hacksaw works for me.

Once cut, it'll be harder to sell if you ever decide to try

Check minimal insertion depth for your frame – twice

You can shorten it but do you need to?

Cynic-al, it looks like the seat tube tapers so the seat post will only go in a certain distance and it does seem very long. Not to worried about the resale value as it is old and cr4p to be honest. i end up being at best perched on it. or is there something I don't know?
