    thinking of getting out on bike tomoz and doing the cut gate special route from the dark peak mtb book for first time,was just wondering on the condition and how rideable it is at the min.cheers

    This is about 8 miles from ladybower and a main road. BTW do you not have television???

    If there’s a hard frost, the sun’s out and the trail has been blown clear of drifts and clumpy freeze/thaw it could be great.

    But the likelihood is that it will be hideous.

    edit: and you’d have to get there which could prove problematic.

    The Snake is closed, the Woodhead is closed, the Devil’s Elbow road out of Glossop is blocked by 6-10 foot snowdrifts – enough to stop a Defender in its tracks, but okay on bikes – an educated guess would be that big parts of Cut Gate will be covered in unrideable snow drifts, but it might make a nice walk if you can get there and the open sections could be scoured pretty much clean. I think you’re being a little optimistic tbh.

    lol,yeh ive got tv,didnt think it would be as bad as that.i live in sheff and its not to bad here now.dont mind a few inches of snow but looking at that pic,yep defo gonna give it a miss.
