    I'll begin with the epic example of cr@p name/top skills;

    Erstwhile axe-wielder for His Royal Ozness, Randy Rhoads.

    Who else is there?

    Lance Mountain always jarred as a name but a top skater back in the day.

    Captain I wonder how good Mr Rhodes would have been or more to the point would he have been as feted as Slash etc if he hadnt got in that plane.

    Top stunt driver Spanky Spangler is another victim of the American tendency to alliterate first, ask questions later.

    Stevland Hardaway Judkins – not exactly a superstar's name however…

    Stevie Wonder is a bit more catchy 🙂

    Spanky's bio makes no mention of a mountain biking relative, although it does have this gem:

    …he became a decorated soldier and the youngest Green Beret to this date. His experiences in the armed forces helped prepare him for what was to come.

    😯

    If we're talking about people who were born with a dreadful name and changed to a catchy one, there are too many to mention – Archibald Leach and Marion Morrison spring to mind for starters.
