    The HOPE Race series http://www.brownbacksracing.co.uk

is pleased to offer “credit crunch racing”

Its simple really, if YOU the racer(not someone else) marshal you can race for free at one of the future events in the series (or the next)

To qualify you must first register your interest in Marshalling at info@brownbacksracing.co.uk title your email “credit crunch racing”. Places are limited and need to be pre-booked.

on the day you must have signed on at the venue by 09:00 and confirm you are a “credit crunch racer” and which event you want to race. You need to do the marshalling duty asked of you until released by the event organiser (don’t worry it will not be onerous) and return all issued kit.

You will then get a free entry, with a guaranteed place on the start line.

You will still qualify for the race prizes and you can qualify for the series prize by racing 2, marshalling 2 for free.

You always need to be “in credit” ie to have marshalled first to qualify for the free entry. You are NOT eligible for the £50 free cash draw for registered marshals on the day.

If you are a no-show please let us know so we can let someone else take advantage.

If you want to do this but have already paid an entry, its not an issue email us and we will sort it on the day.

i never understood where all the money goes?

surely all apart for the top 10 or so are out of the running for cash prizes, so 90% of the racers are riding round a course thats probably open most of the year. so why not just set up a mailing list, get everyone to turn up on the same day, and race. Winner gets bought a cup of tea and slice of cake at the cafe.

And sportives are even worse, there’s not even a prize! A cheep GPS and a few minutes onlie and you’d be able to do any number of 100mile rides! Main gripe at this point is a certain other publications own sportive being held in a few months which apparetly they’ve recied, not just stuck pins in the map. Strange then that they didn’t notice that one of the roads is close for the next few months?

We are organising RACING not a a pretend race/ challenge. This is proper b*lls out racing for those who want to do it. Its also an opportunity to reintroduce a series of races in the North West to get the sport back on the map and in the view of people who can fund facilities from “public” money

    The money goes into
    a. things needed to run an event
    toilets
    first aid
    insurance
    equipment
    website

    b. OUR surplus goes to local mountain rescue team and other local good causes

we are deliberate constituted as a CASC, we don’t even get the kit if we fold

the organisers get nothing, nada, nowt. No cash for time, expenses or anything else

Riders get £4-5k’s worth of prizes
Hope series prizes of a wheelset(which you can’t even buy yet), brakeset, and vision 4 light

£300 per race vouchers from Leisure Lakes for the racers
similar value in kit from Ride-On and MaxGear

£10 entry doesn’t seem so bad now does it…
