    Hi

Just trying to take my crank off and the socket will not grip the bolt.
Cleaned the bolt out of muck, but it seems to have rounded somewhat and slips.Stange as I do not remember it slipping when I tightened it last year.

Any ideas how to undo the bolt without making it worst?

    Job for a bikeshop probably.

a normal socket usually has walls that are too thick to allow the socket all the way in to grip on the bolt. A pedal spanner with a sockety bit on the end has thin walls…

    cheers.

Can I just check what way the driveside bolt should be undone?

both crank bolts undo anticlockwise, its just pedal threads and bb cups that go the wrong way round sometimes.
