I’m very impressed with my knog blinder rear light. I run a couple of P7 torches on the front of mine and just angle them downwards but if you prefer a bike specific light, those lezyne sets seem well liked (quite a few on wiggle ATM around the £50 mark)

I’ve had the SMART stuff before and the rear light was awesome. cheap set here

After years of faffing with my mtb magicshines on the commuter, I now use a Lezyne Superdrive XL. It is much easier as all in one unit, so no wires to wrap around etc. Quick release mount works a treat and you can charge it by USB while at work!

Cateye EL620 nano-shot front light (£45) and a couple of Rapid 1s (£12 each) for the rear. Plus a saddle rail mount (£8) and a dedicated seatpost mount (£5) (the band on ones included aren’t as good).

Should see you good for about £80. All USB rechargeable. Bright, reliable, not had any issues with any of mine.

Always run two rear lights, you won’t know when one stops working.
