    Possible?

My new bike has come with SLX 2*10 but I’d like to change to 1*11 speed. I can get shifter, mech, cassette and chain for £150 but can’t see the advantage in getting new 11 speed cranks for £130+ if I can fit an 11 speed chainring to my SLX?

    Thanks 🙂

No real point in swapping cranks, just pop a narrow wide on them

A 30t ring gives a nice chainline for 1×11 with SLX 2x cranks.

I’m soooo out of touch – what’s a narrow wide?

Would my chain line alter if I did this? Will any 11 speed single ring go straight onto the cranks?

Narrow wide rings are 9/10/11sp compatible, the shaped teeth hold the chain on better. You need the right bcd for your cranks, 104 from memory. You need to pick the size you want for you and your riding and the rear ratio you have.

If you are low to normal fitness, get one of these in 30t…

If you are Chris Hoy, get a 32T n/w chainring, or 33t oval. If you aren’t Superman, get a 28T 64 BCD (inner chainring) n/w. 😉

Just changed mine to 1*11 using slx cranks. Removed large ring and replaced it with a 32t narrow wide. I left the granny ring on. Works really well
