Hello all. Just got a new bike with stock Rubber Queens on. These are the cheap slippy ones I’m guessing after a first ride out at the weekend. Although they didn’t kill me like some on here would have you believe they did not fill me with confidence on wet rock and roots.

If mine are the mince wire bead version then a quick look at the specs shows I can save over a pound by switching to folding MK2’s. Now I realise the black chilli ones are the best but are the cheaper folding just the same or better then the OEM RQ’s I’ve got?

How much are they? You don’t need to pay an awful lot to get a better tyre.

The normal folding come in around £25 where as the black chilli are £40 unless I get them from Germany. If the normal folding are made of the same stuff as my OEM tyres I’ll just forget them.

Have also just been looking at the Specialized range as £30 seems a good price and the bike shop in town stocks them. Tyres confuse me. 😕
