  • Conti mountain king 2.4 on easton ea90xc will I die?

Currently running a Hutchinson Toro 26 x 2.35 upfront on a 26inch Easton EA90XC rim. The wheel spec says 19mm rim will accept tyres upto to 2.35mm.
So if I swap this to a typical 2.4mm width will it make any difference or will I die at some point. (such as a conti mountain king 2)

I ran a 2.4 mk on Mavic 719 rims (with 19mm internal width) for ages with no probs.

    2.4mm on the other hand…

    It’ll be fine.

Just remember all 2.4 tyres aren’t created equal. A 2.4 conti MK would be fine (I have a mate who runs one on a 17mm rim and he hasn’t died yet), however I’d be a bit dubious about running a full size 2.4 such as a maxxis ardent on them.
