typing this on the phone as the laptop has just gone kaput. Absolutely nothing, no lights, no noise, nothing! Ideas? It’s a less than 12month old Acer that was bought abroad (Spain). Warranty issues I could think about?

does it power up without the battery in it?

remove battery, disconnect power lead for a minute or so.
Plug the power lead back in (no battery) and try firing it up again, to start with.

If ^ that doesn’t work then you need to check that the power cable is actually working. If it is then rather big issues my be unfolding I’m afraid and I hope it’s in warranty?

Well I’ve had RS and Fox suspension imported from the US of A (and they knew) fixed under the world wide warranty’s, no reason why you should be able to do the same with the laptop.

Now back on the computer, it’s fired up through cable and battery removed.

    Time for a new one?
Let’s see what happens when I swich off/switch on.

WooHoo! Fired up perfectly, as it would. I’ve just worked out what the problem was. 😳

    No! 👿
Actually no, the computer was left on while I was out but the cable wasn’t keeping it charged, plugged in and switched on but obviously something had come loose.
This user doesn’t make errors. 😆

I would imagine it was one of those power surges that blows the plug out of the socket. Very dangerous those and not to be confused with forgetting to plug it in 😉

It was plugged in and switched on, more likely that someone kicked the cable, not me, oh no not me!

There’s a nasty virus that unplugs your power jack, it was probably that.
