Hoping someone on here might have a gem up their sleeves when it comes to routes from Sunderland to Newcastle.
Basically, moving to Sunderland in July from Newcastle. I will still be commuting to the centre of newcastle daily for work, but have no knowledge of a route to take that will avoid the usual busy roads.
So, if anybody already does this commute, I’d be grateful for insider knowledge!

Can’t say I’ve ever cycled it but from driving around there, it may be worth taking back roads to Boldon & then on to Jarrow, through the tunnel & turn left

Used to cycle to work from the centre of the Toon out to Pelaw via cycle way on the Gateshead side. Not gone further affield but this should give some options:
