So what ideas / options are there for a 'comfy' HT? Happy to invest in good seatpost / saddle as well....
All day, gert big days in the hills predominate.
Also some road commute to work and back.

Cotic Soul is apparently very comfy, especially with a carbon or Ti post. or even a 953 post from 18 Bikes if you're feeling rich. Very pretty though.

Soul... Or pretty much any 29er.... I've just gone from a soul to an aluminium Gary fisher Xcaliber and it's looooooads comfier, I want a solaris now, they must be like a magic carpet..

456Ti, big tubeless tyres running sub30psi, I-Beam carbon 27.2 post plus Formula seat and carbon bars.
Very comfy for all day stuff.

one that fits you? surely fit and position are at least as important as any frame-flex/zing?
i find my blue pig very comfy, i'm sure other people wouldn't.

I've had a couple of Kinesis frames, currently riding an XC pro3 always found them very comfortable, did have a full susser for a bit never really got on with it and actually found the XC pro3 much more confortable!

OnOne ScandAL. Had mine since they landed and won't give it up for anything. Comfy, tough, capable. Big wheels tho - you'll just arrange to get it nicked and get small wheels again.

Carbon 456 is a bit of a funny one, it's sort of compliant but without being really soft. I find that great handling-wise but not especially comfy, it's more like a damper than a spring if you know what I mean?

hmm, the more I look at it the more it comes back to a steel HT, preferably a 29er...But I need to make sure I can get enough money for frame, forks and wheels (ST4, Fox F32 RL QR15, Hope/317/new tyres)

Is that still there in the current Scandal? Mine was fantastic for that but a lot of people reckon it's only the scandium one that has it. Haven't ridden a more recent one.
(people talk about steel compliance, but Inbreds are pretty stiff and my Scandal wasn't)

Chumba hx2 29er. Comfiest bike I have ever ridden! Great riding position too. If I was to ride one bike for Xc/AM it would be the Chumba. Yes, Ali can be 'harsh' but good seatpost, saddle & grips will sort that for you (that said, havent found the Chumba uncomfertable for an ali frame). Low stand over but long TT.

I'm just getting back into riding the HT after stripping down the prophet. I reckon the 2.4" advantage (at about 25 psi tubeless) I've got on the back makes it fantastically comfy amd controlled. It's a mk 1 pipedream sirius, which is pretty comfy anyway, but I think more of it's the tyres than anything else.
