Every stage on eurosport. He is some sprinter to be fair to him, just a shame he will never win a multi stage race with his lack of climbing ability.Way down on GC as usual.

It was on eurosport, although as a race it was a waste of time as they refused to race the riders stating it was too dangerous, so gc just rolled around. Truly awesome lead out for Cav though, they were taking no chances the green jersey in the tour has got to be a cert, best lead out train and fastest sprinter= green jersey.

“the green jersey in the tour has got to be a cert, best lead out train and fastest sprinter= green jersey” …….no chance cav will win the green jersey.

he is the greatest sprinter on the planet but that doesn’t always mean you win green, look at cipollini, the best sprinter EVER, never won green…… hushovd, pozzato, mcewen, can all climb far better than cav can. he will win it one day, not yet though, he needs to actually finish a tour first.

    Manchester Trev
Cipo didnt win green because he always slopped off after the flat stages untill they stopped inviting him.
Pozzato???-is a good classics rider but when has pozatto ever outsprinted Cav.
I think milan san remo shows Cav can climb, easily aswell as McEwan ( not noted as a good climber at all)
Cav would have finished last year if he hadn’t left to prepare for the olympics.
Both Hushovd and McEwan have both got their best years behind them.
I suspect his biggest threats if he rides will be Bennati or if he’s fit to ride or Friere ( not as fast but very consistent and last years green winner).

Can’t see Cav winning green this year but I can next year (although it may mean he wins fewer races), he’s already made a big leap in his climbing ability (Milan San Remo showed that).

Green jersey isn’t the best sprinter jersey, it’s for the rider who wins the most points.

Riders like Friere and Hushovd will often be able to finish ahead of Cav on stages that sren’t designed for the sprinters. Agree with most that his time will come though. Less track, more hills!

He looked like a possibility for winning the green jersey at the tour last year, but had the Olympics to think about. Now that he’s not doing the training for the track, I think he’s got a very good shot.

Leggyblonde you get the points mainly for wins!35 TO BE EXACT and first few places, 30,26 etc ( 35 for 1st down to 1 for 25th on flat stages)and intermediates( 6,4,2 for 1st second and third) so coming in behind hushovd on a mountain stage will have COCK ALL to do with it as there are no points awarded for finisher after 15t or 20 th . Thats why they have a king of the mountains jersey too!!!.The points jersey is contested on flat stages not mountain stages..
