Had the situation where the pike rebound damper bolt was spinning. Tried everything suggested to loosen / tighten it from max rebound and lockout to using an air wrench and nothing would budge it – the damper rod kept spinning. Finally accepted I’d have to cut the bolt and pulled the damper out. I’ve got the bolt out now and the threads insife the damper look ok. I tried to put in the air Spring bolt but it gets caught up after the first few threads. So I’m thinking about cleaning up the threads in the damper rod with a m8 X 1.25mm tap as I reckon this is my last resort before a new damper. Is this the best approach as opposed to forcing in a new bolt? Will the tap clean up the existing threads or cut new ones? Is this DIY able or something best left to a machinist?
    All advice appreciated.
