I’ve got a pair of wheels and a pair of steel beaded tyres to sell, plus a few other heavy large items. What do you lot do for postage? Do you measure and weigh up or just guess?

For the tyres, maybe a tenner’s worth but the postage on a large item would push that beyond economic sense, surely?

Depends on the type of postage and value of item. Royal mail and other delivery companies have calculators on their sites. £10 postage for the tyres sounds like a lot.
