What's wrong with restoring a TS? Lovely little bikes. I'd happily restore one. As much as I'd like a CBX my pockets and patience aren't up to restoring one.

Fair enough restore one,but classic?
Guess I have just turned into my dad, he could never understand Bantams becoming collectable.Posted 7 months ago # -
Good call on the Goose. Stupid fact of the day - named after the gooseneck corner on the isle of man

Bantams are great!

I Have a tl1000r its a bit of a classic in my eyes anyway. unfortunately quite a bit of work and money later it no longer resembles the original bike, tho it goes and stops and bounces better lol

Classic to me is stuff I either had or lusted after as a teen. Which would be a TS and a CBX.Anything older is just old tat. Anything newer is in my garage...

LC250 was far better than the 350 though!
Eh?
Same bike, just with smaller holes and one less disc - how on earth could it be better?
Had a 250 on L plates and then two 350's and finished with a power-valve.
And tbh the rose-tinted specs will be needed, 'cos none of them are a patch on modern stuff.

All RD's are great fun though.
Only real problem is that they are very small. And getting expensive.

My Cousin had one of these, I sat on the back a few times, it was quite lovely. Honda CB900F

But his fave was this, Kwaker 500 triple

I had one of these for over the fields, Yam DT400

and one of these after the DT, BSA C15 Trials

You could try, The Iconic FS1E (rip DUJ 1L)

my dad has spent 18 to 20 months restoring this from a pile of rust

that was taken 6 months or back, it is now totally finished with a nice chrome exhaust and comp box. He used to ride one (well a Hawkstone - but the Scottish is not much different) when he was a young man and has thoroughly enjoyed restoring this one!

neilnevill - they are lovely. And surprisingly quick!
Can I have a go?
Pleeeeeeeeeease....

I'm currently building one of these as a clubmans race bike for the Scottish and UK Classic race series.
Watch this space - it'll look very little like that once I'm done with it. And I will ride the balls off it too.....

I have a nice light alloy 2ls drum if you want - should be eligible - off a Yamaha YD7 I believe

I've not had a chance to have a go myself yet! I know dad has briefly ridden it, as has my brother's father in law who helped with the build (photo was taken in his workshop) but it has run no more than a couple of miles so far!
I'm encouraging dad to get a helmet, gloves and jacket, get it a day use only MOT and take it out a few times over the dry months. I know he will get a huge thrill if he does that, even if he just rides it on the road! I'm concerned it may end up as just a show bike though....I'll do my best to ensure it doesn't!Posted 7 months ago # -
Oh yes! Definitely interested. I'm going to run the proper mans old race bike so no disc allowed. Send me details please Jerry. PS - are you still wanting to sell your Enfield?

ZEdsdead - give me a shout when you are around - the drum has beensitting in the lockup for 25 years. Yo can have it for much cheapness

Cool. I'm in India until November but I'll give you a call when I get home
Just out of hospital! Had to have kidney stones surgically removed - scary experience I can tell you!

Oucha
Posted 7 months ago # -
Also considering turning this into a race bike - it's 90% of the way there with the engine and suspension mods we have done to it already...

Managed to squeeze 140+ out of it without a fairing! Was bloody hard work though...
And if anyone doubts it come on down and I'll show you...
Bikes is our lives

Ouch indeed! In the end I had to have the surgery here in India - I was not a happy person.
I would not wish that pain on anyone!

zedsdead,
do you work for those guys?
The reason I ask is that my Dad has a number of old British bikes, in various states of build, which spare parts are becoming particularly scarce and he has been trying to find somebody who could/would be able to make things when he needs them?
Posted 7 months ago # -
Hey turin. I am one of theose guys.
We have a workshop full of machines and we haven't found anything we can't make so far. And we are bloody good at it too. We pride ourselves on taking the original and making it better too! We've even had crashed and mangled forks and made them way better than the original! Rebuild, restorations, engine tuning - you name it! We also specialise in taking on the jobs that nobody wants to because they see it as a lost cause - to us there is no such thing. And we've done it time and time again.
Feel free to drop me an email any time. We can always help. And are always happy to have a chat too. You bring the biccys and we'll provide the coffee.
Cheers
PS _ I do keep telling the old man to update the website but we're too busy building bikes, and racing! One day...... lol
Posted 7 months ago # -
Thanks for that
excellent Ill let him know, he is pretty handy at most of the rebuilding and has taken them from a box of bits to running but its the scarcity of parts and some of the intricate bits that he needs some help with.
He lives in the central belt but if I tell him about you lot he could be making a trip north, after calling first and getting the biscuits
His pride is hopefully shown below, not his but the same, i keep trying to convince him to let me have a shot of it but no luck yet!!!
Posted 7 months ago # -
Aaaah! Now that's lovely!
Yep - we can definitely help. We have a massive passion for old Brit bikes.
We also have a truck so can pick up and drop off for you too.
PS - keep asking, you never know your luck. ;D
