I've a Mondeo TDCi and looking to change it fairly soon. Excellent car.

Where do I go from here?

Mr C – get it remapped, more power and more MPG! I went from home in Devon to the outlaws in the Midlands recently with the cruise control set to 75 and got 62mpg in my 2.2 Civic.

Think how good it would have been if you didn't break the law 😉

Think how much more sensible a speed limit of 120 or 130kph (75 or 80mph) would be.

75 mph is within the 10% + 2 mph "rule". Honda speedos are also about 2 mph out.

Most speedos are 10% under – check it with a GPS.

Keep thinking Civic, for sure, but that Jetta still looks somehow comfy and refined.. I dunno. I wish Honda did an auto in the Civic diesel.

Big up for the Jetta from me. I've had an 07 TDI S from new and can't fault it. Its done nearly 87k now and just seems to get quicker and more economical (upto 60mpg at 70mph). Huge boot, comfy, decent toys (automatic lights, wipers, 4xew, air con – even on the base model), looks good imo and hasn't put a foot wrong. Its not the kind of car teenage boys have a poster of on their bedroom wall, but for an everyday car it is superb.
I'm sure Civics are very nice too.

My Civic says 76mph while the sat nav says 70mph
