Have a trip over Xmas for sister in laws wedding (which is actually on 20th dec)

Were thinking of going to Tasmania camping for 4 or 5 days after the wedding, so this would take us over christmas period

concern is we will have 3 kids with us (16, 14, 10). Ordinarily they’d be fine out in the boonies hiking etc but perhaps not on Christmas day where I suspect they would hope to have a bit of social going on

so – would the campsites say around Hobart be dead over Xmas or will there be stuff going on? Any shops / bars / restaurants open or is the whole place shut down for family time?

    thanks for any advice

It’s usually pretty busy here over that time of year – would pay to book early, no matter what kind of accommodation you’re looking at.

Also, there is a range of places open on Christmas Day, but again, it’s usually bookings only. Remainder of the time there should be plenty of places open – Christmas Eve is a big night down at Salamanca in Hobart.

Come on down. You’ll never leave. I didn’t.
Xmas day things are a little limited, but after that things pick up a lot.

I’ve been here 14 years now.
As for camping, down south I’d look at something like this:

    Cloudy bay, Bruny Island.
But you won’t go far wrong anywhere really.
    Freycinet
    Cockle creek
    Port Arthur
A little bit further a field you have,
    Bay of Fires
    Strahan
    Marrawah.
    Cradle Mt
    Lake St Clair
There are a 101 amazing places to choose from.

Clearly that can’t be a picture of Tasmania the sky is the wrong colour.

    Tazmania intro 😀

    Enjoy your trip.
