Thanks to all who offered info about Chamonix and the surrounding area. We got 3 1/2 days of riding in and it was all good.

I'll admit that We ignored the advice about not riding Les Houches DH in the wet and it was a bit tricky. It was much better in the dry and the fast dirt road drop to St Gervais was really good, although the anticipated 'short' road ride back to Les Houches was anything but…

We rode some trails on the north side of the valley and around the Petit Balcon Sud past Argentiere which was good XC, although there were a fair few walkers about.

At Morzine and Les Gets, we started off looking for the XC, but it appeared to be a lot of 4wd access road and the DH runs looked tempting, so we ended up doing those for most of the day. Riding hardtails meant that we were in a tiny minority, but we made a reasonable stab at it.

    Cheers.
