  • Cheaper to buy new (road) crankset rather than replace rings…

    It’s for the commuter (which is currently used by my pa!) so not worried about uber fancy ones!
    It’s got Truvativ elita cranks on there at the mo (36, 50), and the rings need replacing pronto!
    It’s bonkers that a new crank/rings/bb can be had for £50, wheras rings cost more than that!
    I’m looking at this – it’s a 10 speed which should do me, even though I’m runnung 9 speed), no?
    Or – if anyone can recommend long lasting rings that can be had for under £40 for 36/50 or thereabouts, I’d give you a virtual cuddle!

    34/50 plus free cranks on ebay for 40 quid ?

    I’ve been stood here, dressing gown open, spinning it and saying “woo hoo” in a high pitched voice for 3 hours now – no takers I see…….Tut!

    (Ta muchly – think I might pay the extra fiver and get the whole shebang…
