I’m building up an uber cheap winter hack SS and have an old straight fork to put in a tapered head tube – I really want to spend buttons on this as neither the frame or fork deserve anything of great quality

Is there anything cheaper than the hope mix/match?

I’ve heard decent stuff about the M Part ones. My LBS recommended and fitted one to a bike I’m doing up for my Dad at the moment, the quality seems decent. I’m not totally certain on what variations of sizes they have but worth checking the Madison website to see. Price was around £40.

Just measured the lower frame internal bore and its 56mm So I’m guessing on one won’t fit

I bloody hate bike manufacturers these days – it used to be so easy

    Integrated or semi-integrated?
I found one on ebay for my DMR Bolt for £20.
Not this particular one, but similar.
    Semi integrated headset.
    Worked well so far.

Yep – that would be perfect if it had a step down ring in the bottom race

You can buy a crown reducer from Hope for about £8 that fits on a 1 1/8th fork and steps it up for a 1.5″ crown race.

Have a look around as mine came with both. Will have look when I get home at the brand name.

I have a Hope step down internal headset to sell, not used much

Edit, scratch that, yours is 56, mine is 49mm
