With a tour in mind I’m looking for a man’s and woman’s merino base layer to avoid us stinking of polyester death by day 3 or carrying loads of kit. Has anyone got any recommendations of cheap ones (we’ll not be doing this regularly and my previous experiences of merino weren’t as good as synthetic fabric for day to day riding) or something similar that won’t smell?

    Thanks.

I find On One merino pretty good value, commute in it every day through Autumn/winter.

It fits my longer torso/arms alright, is the size it quotes and washes fine.

1st wash from new I’ll use 30 to prevent shrinking but then after its gone in at 40 with everything else.

Merino isn’t all that, imo. I still noticed the smell.
