  • Cheap front tyre – sorry 26" content.

The winter hack needs a new front tyre.
I have been using Conti Verts 26 x 2.3 for this task and have no real complaints but I fancy a bit more volume.
So looking for something about 10mm wider, a 2.5 Vert would be ideal but alas…….

How wide is a Vert actually? Being a conti it could be a claimed 2.3 but invisible to the naked eye, useful to know.

as above, chunky monkey pretty much the cheapest one out there.
Other than the non BC contis for £15

I agree – for cheap performance, Chunkey Monkey is hard to beat.

So you want a 68mm tyre?

    That’ll be a 2.7 then

Chunkey Monkey, cannot be beaten. Fact, except by a silly priced Hans Dampf 🙂

Happy Chunky Monkey owner here, however i find it does clag up a bit in the worst conditions, then i switch to a £13 conti baron or a panaracer fire FR

As a front tyre chunky monkey rocks a lot more grip than a HD also works better at lower pressures. Only problem is a lot of rolling resistance.

I’m loving my CM – only place it struggles is thick mud (not that we get much around here), but off-piste downhill at speed on Saturday was a bit ar5e clenching.
