Not me – and as you know I have little time for people having holidays with the claim of raising money for charity.

However this one is a little different. If they do it it will be a big acheivement

    ‘Doing something mad for dad’~
    3 Sisters, 3 Years, 3 Challenges

In July 2009 our dad, James Finegan, died of vascular dementia just days before his 90th birthday.

We are raising funds for Admiral Nurses who are specialists in the care of people who have dementia. They not only understand the changes that dementia can wreak in an individual but also how it can affect their family.

Mount Kilimanjaro seemed mad enough for us – three sedentary sisters who have had 10 children and 3 grandchildren between us.
We are Breda-Leeds, Nuala-Manchester, Siobhan-Wolverhampton. We all live with our families and have full time jobs. Our mom, Catherine, still lives in Birmingham, where she met dad on the buses at Coventry Road Garage 56 years ago, and where they raised their 6 children (us and our 3 brothers Peter, Brendan and Gerard).

So go on. Stick your hands in your virtual pockets. They are heading off to do the multiday walk of part of St James Way, Spain next week. This is the second of their three challenges

For these women this will be very tough. But they are tough as well

This year’s challenge will be funded entirely by ourselves and ALL donations through this site will go to ‘fordementia’. From then on the money we raise will go towards the climb up Kilimanjaro and the equipment we will need.

Good luck to them, but unless I’m missing something it sounds pretty much the same as all the others.

The main difference is these are 3 sedentary middleaged women – its a real challenge for them and Kilimanjaro is for next year – anything given now will go straight to the charity. Every penny.

They have also been organising fundraising events. its not just an excuse for an adventure

Is this charity not worth donating money to without some-sort of challenge being completed?

Miserable lot. 🙂 Every penny donated this year goes to a dementia charity

Ok guys I got my slagging. The three of them however have managed the walk on the camino. Tough for them and every penny donated now will go direct to the charity.

Have a laugh at Nuala and then put your hands in your pockets ta
