Just putting some old brakes (Formula Rx about 2010/2011) onto a new frame and I need to change the angle the hose enters the caliper at in order to get it to fit. Do I just loosen the nut or is that going to piss fluid all over the carpet?

Loosen a touch, rotate and tighten. You’ll get a drop or two of oil loss, no big deal, just wipe it off.

Slightly loosed nut and move the hose. You won’t drop any fluid.

    I wouldn’t do it over the carpet…

But you should be able to slacken it enough to move it without leaking just not 100% when carpet gets involved

Get the missus to do it – over the carpet – while you nail her from behind….
Guarantee there’ll be none on the carpet – well not brake “fluid” at least 😉

there’s an ‘o’ ring either side of the Banjo bolt

as long as you don’t dramatically loosen that bolt, you can easily rotate the hose connector without any fluid loss

the only time you would see a leak under slight loosening is if the o rings are damaged, and it would be worth replacing those o rings and bleeding the brake

Good grief, it’s a Sunday morning discussion about disc brakes. Is there literally nothing that some blokes can’t turn sleazy?

It’s the word “nail” that makes it art.
