Daughters Hotrock 24 has a bolted front wheel and I want to change it to QR.

Is it simply a case of getting a new axle?

Will the new axle be shorter than a full size bike? I can’t go out and measure it as I’m glued to the sofa watching the TDF!

    Thanks.

Why do you want to change it? Transportation? I just carry a spanner when out with my son. Is the rear QR too?

I’d imagine the hub is standard width.

I’m recording it and getting a live feed from my friend in France 😉

if its a 9mm axle id imagine youd need an oversize qr like this one

It should be the same length, & it is just a case of assembling the cones, lockrings etc, onto the new axle. You have to make sure the axle sits centrally or the skewer will tighten onto the axle not the dropout. Best bet is to set it on the fork first, spacing should be 100mm from lock-nut face to locknut face. Lock up one side very very tight, helps with adjustment afterwards.
