Daft question but I habe to replace some borked truvativ cranks on a 9spd bike so I am looking at some sram x9 triple chainsets, but they’re described as 10 spd…..

    incompatible with 9spd then?

I’ve been running a 10sp chainset with my 9sp transmission for ages. Works fine. I think the chainrings are just *very slightly* thinner so it works this way but not t’other (10sp chain on 9sp ring might bind a bit).

Doubt it possible a few fractions of a mm thinner so it will work

May get a little more wear

Depends how “exact and/or anal you are about these things
