    Hi,

Tried to make sense of this through reading various posts and the like on the net, but am confusing myself.

Not as knowledgeable as I’d like regarding bikes and would be grateful should someone steer me in the correct direction regarding what chainring to buy.

Bought a set of the new XX1 cranks off ebay thinking they’d be compatable with a standard 32 tooth chainring, which would be used on a singlespeed 29er. But it looks like I can only use XX1 chainrings and even then would need to use a SRAM chain with it.

Am I as well to sell the cranks and pick up a set of Shimano, which would be compatable with my existing chainring on my XT cranks or is there any way around this at all?

You can get 76mm chainrings from companies like Absolute Black and others

Or get a direct mount – saves weight as it loses the spider off the crank

SRAN chain not needed for any of these (or the proper XX1 rings)

Shall likely try the Race Face option. Thank you for the responses.
