when putting a new middle one in (shimano) the side with the writing goes inwards, ive done that, and obviously lined up the 4 bolts, there is no specific way it needs to go in is there? all 4 line up bolts are the same? probably a thick question but just want to check!

    cheers

can anyone confirm this pleeeeease 🙂

just want to make sure other than lining up and bolting up the 4 chainring bolts – there is no specific way the chainring should be fitted? literaly can you spin the chain ring and put it in any of the 4 bolts?

Writing normally faces outwards, there’s usually some sort of tab between two of the bolt holes that should line up with the crank arm.

Check the countersunk bolt hole. On my Shimano Ultegra the middle ring writing faces inwards towards the frame.

afaik – the writing faces outer on the outer ring, middle and granny face inwards?

is that all there is to do when lining up just make sure they are the correct way around?

    if so job done 🙂

the outer is right as it can only go one way (plus the writing is outwards, and the little chain drop pin goes in line with the crank arm…
