watching casino royale and although it is indeed a good film, I just don’t understand the basic mechanism of the “Skyfleet plot” that forces LeChiffre to play cards.

If you own a load of stock in a company. Then sell it. You get cash back for what you already own. So you SAVE the loss that otherwise would have happened if you didn’t sell. Great. But how does that actually MAKE you money?!?!? Maybe I have misunderstood short-selling as mentioned by M.

Repurchasing the stock on the cheap after the prices crash only works if a) you don’t get caught as it’s illegal and b) you have the patience for the stock to rise.

Please point out where I am being stupid!
